Cherrity Bar Charity Cherries

Good Times & Giving Back

Our Story

The hearts behind Cherrity Bar

There are bars that host the occasional charity night,
and then there’s The Cherrity Bar…

Owner David Malley opened his initial business, Two Guys’ Enterprise, in 2000 to help make ends meet as a newlywed. He worked nights pressure washing commercial properties while also working his day job as a restaurant manager. Within a year, his pressure washing business took off, enabling him to quit his day job and grow this business full time. Within 3 years, he started to diversify and invested in rental homes in East Side San Antonio. He encouraged his father to also purchase homes in this area for supplemental retirement income, and as part of this venture, his father purchased three dilapidated homes zoned for commercial use. David saw this as an opportunity and negotiated a deal to trade some of his nicer rental properties for those three houses, which would soon become the Alley at the Dome.

This project has been years in the making and has finally come to fruition.  Over the years, David has poured his heart into his work, as well as plenty of blood, sweat and tears, to create a host of booming businesses which range from rental houses to commercial property maintenance to restaurant investments.

We’re extremely fortunate financially, and you reach a certain point when you can live the life you want and have enough. So, we thought it would be great to spread the wealth.

This former Eagle Scout embodies authenticity and generosity. One of his greatest joys in life is traveling and duck hunting with his daughter. But he is also inspired daily by his son, Connor, who lives with Tourette Syndrome.

Co-owner Pam Malley explained that Connor’s experience is a large part of the inspiration behind the Cherrity Bar. Spreading awareness about this very misunderstood condition and supporting families who live with Tourette have become her missions. Their son’s triumphs and challenges, as well as Pam’s work on the Education Advisory Board for the Tourette Association of America (TAA), led them to donate 10 percent of the bar’s profits directly to the TAA each month. The other 90 percent will go to three competing charities in a 60/30/10 percent split.

Unlike other fundraising efforts, the Cherrity Bar is not just donating a portion of the profits to charity. They are giving it all away. The Malley’s hearts are truly into giving back and they view the Cherrity Bar as their opportunity to make a difference.

“We want it to be a place for everyone,” David said. “We welcome families and singles. We welcome people with special needs. There will be an awesome playground for parents with kids who need to burn off energy, and there will be a sensory room for kids who need some quiet.”

The Cherrity Bar hopes to become a place where a diverse melting pot of people come together for the greater good while enjoying delicious food and savory drinks, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic.  In a time when the whole world seems at odds with one another, David and Pam hope this little bar at the corner of Montana and Cherry Streets will serve as a positive beacon of hope and love in the Alamo City.
